Injection Molding Machinery

Many plastic injection molding machinery operators today cannot afford to pay the outrageous prices of a  new plastic machine. That is why so many of them have started buying used plastic injection molding machines. Buying used machinery is way cheaper than buying new machinery. With prices for new machines rising already, some reaching the six figure range, many injection molders have said enough is enough. They cannot afford to buy new machines loaded with all of these innovative new features like touch screens and servo hybrids when they are so expensive, so they have decided to buy used machinery.

And when you can get multiple used machines for the price of one new one, who can blame these molders for taking the smarter path and growing their profitability?

1993 Toyo 150 Ton G2 Horizontal Injection Machine - Used Toyo Injection ...

This post has nothing to do with plastic injection molding machines

I would like to start by saying that this post is going to be a little out of the ordinary for me. I try to stay as objective as possible when it comes to my writing, but these are just some of the thoughts I have been having lately put to paper (or computer monitor, rather) and I just thought i'd let them out here.

With all of this talk of financial sequesters, fiscal cliffs, and budgetary cuts, it is a wonder that anyone in the American manufacturing industry is still working at all. But that is a mystery in and of itself, now isn't it? That in the face of all of this seemingly insurmountable adversity, the linchpin of our economy has yet to crack. Or even show a bead of sweat on it's brow. It must be that uniquely human instinct to just blindly drive forward. Keep going, full steam ahead. If that mentality could win a world war and pull this country out of the greatest economic crisis it had yet faced, then why wouldn't it work now?

Many would argue that it won't. That times have changed. That we need to stop and re-assess ourselves and the situation, and think up a new game plan entirely. I would argue that waiting around for another year at half capacity while our inept politicians form a committee to try to sort the mess out is only going to make matters worse. With an unemployment rate that is only expected to climb, (and our own government falsely stating that it has gotten better by changing some of it's definitions for being considered "unemployed", but that is another post entirely) American manufacturers can't afford to let more and more employee's go in hopes of just barely being able to stay afloat until it hopefully gets better.

So many in the steel industries, operators of plastic injection molding machines, plant owners and operators, and many others in the American Manufacturing industry are doing what our politicians did to get us into this mess in the first place: Pretending like nothing is wrong, and hoping that the positive attitude and utterances of "everything is going to be fine" to their workers will really make it so. And who's to blame them? They have been left to fend for themselves with no help from our own government, so forging onwards and trying to meet the goals of a company not burdened by economic uncertainty in a time where that is the exact opposite of the case seems like as good a strategy as any I have heard proposed.

Just get in there and go to work. Work hard and good things will follow. That is the American dream after all. And we all know that the backbone of America isn't going to let us down.

About the Fiscal Cliff and How it May Impact American Manufacturers

The fiscal cliff is a phrase that is used to describe the financial problems that the United States government is set to experience as 2013 approaches. Due to the terms of the Budget Control Act of 2011, which go into force at the close of 2012, the government must cut spending and raise taxes. Because proposed spending cuts and tax increases will impact industry, American manufacturers may take a hit at this important time. In fact, some industry experts believe that the detrimental effects of the prospective fiscal cliff are already changing the face of American manufacturing, and not in a good way.

Firms that utilize manufacturing to stay in business are becoming much more cautious about expenditures. Commonly, capital is being conserved, rather than being pumped into manufacturing processes. Due to restricted spending that is triggered by “fiscal cliff fears”, profits related to manufacture may decline in 2013. In a worst-case scenario, the manufacturing industry will be plunged back into a recessionary economic climate. Of course, this niche of industry is not the only one that will experience adverse effects during this difficult time.

Manufacturing Workers May Lose Their Jobs

American Manufacturers may decrease hiring, begin layoffs in order to downsize, and otherwise streamline operations in order to stay afloat when times get hard. Estimated declines of three percent are anticipated, in terms of manufacturing profits across the board (in the USA). It is expected that the detrimental effects of the fiscal cliff will negatively impact the American manufacturing industry for at least eight months, or even longer.

While prospects are somewhat grim, there will always be manufacturing companies that find a way to thrive in even the most challenging economic situations. Therefore, it’s safe to say that many American manufacturers will find ways to rise to the challenge as we learn more about the fiscal cliff, and then overcome its adverse effects.
